Day26 album sales increase with new season!

According to badboyblog Day 26 and Danity Kane have been moving up the charts since the new season 3 has began:

Since the premiere of the third season of Making the Band 4, both Danity Kane and Day26 have seen their albums move up the charts in noteworthy fashion.

Billboard released the August 31 charts just two days after the premiere, on August 21, so they would not really have accounted for the impact of the show. This makes them a good starting point. Here is how the albums have performed, since that date:

“Day26″ by Day26

Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums
August 31: #73
September 6: #50 (Pace Setter)
September 13: #38 (Pace Setter)
September 20: #35

This is a good look for the guys! They went up by like 38 spots!
* I have also added a Billboard Artist Chart widget to the sidebar. It has all the up to date chart rankings for the album and the singles for Day26 check it out

Promo Cover: Since You’ve Been Gone

According to Radio & Records the Since You’ve Been Gone single was released on June 9th, 2008 to U.S Radio. R&R and Bad Boy Records also put up a promotional cover for the single and a website that has the track available for download (real player) as well as promotional contact information listed.

Webmiss: Not sure if this is gonna be the official SYBG single cover but I wouldn’t be surprised since the DK single also got the same treatment. It’s a nice cover though I like the guys standing and Brian giving us that damn sexy stare again…homeboy got that stare down I love it.

New Track: Must Be Love

The guys have a new track called “Must Be Love” and I have to say it’s a nice track with a catchy beat to it. I believe Brian opens up the song with the verse “This is something I never wanted but since i met you I been on it….I know this must be love.” Anyways take a listen and then download it.

Day 26 Reacts To Danity Kane’s Higher Album Sales

Here’s what the guys in particularly Brian had to say about DK beating them out in album sales Brian’s comments are bolded in the full story:

“Real talk, we did finish recording our album before Danity Kane, like two and half weeks before,” injects Brian. “Our album was originally supposed to come out March 11, but Diddy felt like we needed to go out on the road and promote our album more. So that’s the only reason Danity Kane came out before Day 26.”

Day 26, debuted at #1 on the charts but their first week sales didn’t quite match up to those of their Bad Boy labelmates, Danity Kane. In this SOHH exclusive, we caught up with Brian, Big Mike, Que, Robert and Willlie, to discuss their defeat to DK, their thoughts on debuting at No. 1 and plans for the follow up single to their smash hit “Got Me Going.” (more…)

DAY 26 PROMISE A NEW DAY: ‘Making the Band’ quintet releases debut disc.

Diddy hand-picked posse Day 26 released their debut disc this week much to the anticipation of fans of “Making the Band” - the show that launched their career almost two years ago.

Day 26 is made up of singers Brian Andrews, Mike McCluney, Qwanell “Q” Mosley, Robert Curry, and Willie Taylor.

The group’s name comes from the date the five were chosen by hitmaker/starmaker Diddy and MTV viewers on the finale of “Making the Band 4″ - August 26.

Their self-titled CD, powered by the first single, “Got Me Going,” was produced by production pro Mario Winans.

“It’s banging - ridiculous,” Will said of the disc that dropped Tuesday. “People should have high expectations for the album because it’s definitely great to the ear.”

“We’re bringing back R&B to where it used to be in the early ‘90s, like when Jodeci and Boyz II Men were around,” Brian added. “Some real sangin’ - not just singing, but sangin’.” (more…)
